Welcome to issue 9 of RagaNet. I have some exciting events to report. Ragmala Radio has really taken off. My father and I are having one of the best times creating content to broadcast. Thanks for all who have written in encouraging us on. We will certainly try to install as much live music programming as we can. Musical discussions on raga, tala, history etc. are going to make their way into the broadcasts soon. Presently we have not decided on the live stream broadcasting. The shows are being aired on an "on demand" basis. You'll need to have real audio player (available via online link) installed. Our building on Mission Street has finally received a make over. It took a car to hit one of its sides to jolt us and crytalize our goals and priorities in life that being to make more music! I have received lots of emails from you the reader on why these issues don't come out faster. I appreciate your requests but the times are so tough for me that it will be a while before I get more stable in releasing consistently. I will like to say that I find your interest great and wish you seek out as much information as you can to add to your daily study and practice. My wish list is to form a non-profit corporation of the music Institute and try get some funding so I can start a school dedicated to releasing all the works created by my father and I to teach the music of India. Perhaps, after the NOn-profit is setup, we can solicit donations to import some of the finest teachers from India to the US to teach these compositions to all interested. As I work on getting this dream fulfilled I cannot help but think that there are many skilled folks out there that might be reading this and would like to help in getting this off the ground. Let me know if you want to help. Best wishes, Ashwin Batish Other Issues:1 • 2 • 3 • 4 • 5 • 6 • 7 • 8 • 9
